Regulations for Motocross Solos
STANDING
MOTOCROSS REGULATIONS FOR SOLO
1).
ELIGIBILITY. Entrants must be over the age of sixteen years.
2).
MOTO CROSS COURSE GUIDELINES.
(2.1) The Track must be of a type which restricts the average
speed to a maximum of 55km per hour. ie. 1 complete lap must
not contain straight sections permitting high speed ie 100kmh.
(2.2) Course width must not be less than 5 metres for Solos
and 6 metres for Quads.
(2.3) Width of a course jump should be at least one metre
wider on landing than the take off point.
(2.4) Length of a start straight should not exceed 125 metres
to the first bend and minimum length should not be less than
80 metres.
(2.5) The start straight will not have any jumps constructed
along this area.
(2.6) Each solo driver should have a minimum width of one
metre on the start line, Quads should have a minimum width
of 2 metres.
3).
ACCEPTANCE OR REFUSAL OF ENTRY. Conduct - Riders, parents
or associates failing to obey instructions given by officials
of a meeting or deemed to have unjustifiably or maliciously
jeopardised the efficient running of the meeting by not adhering
to the regulations, Supplementary Regulations or the protest
procedure, can be excluded from the meeting.

CHANGE OF MACHINE. A change of machine may be permitted provided
that prior notification is made to the Secretary of the Meeting
before the event in which the change is to take place. The
same machine must be used throughout anyone race.
5).
SPECIFICATION OF MOTORCYCLE
(a) BRAKES - Motorcycles must be equipped with one efficient
brake operating on each wheel and be operated independently
from the driving position.
(b) TYRES - There is no restriction as to the tyres which
may be used other than as may be laid down in the Supplementary
Regulations but chains and other non-skid devices will not
be permitted. Scoop or paddle (continuous radial rib) tyres
and/or tyres with lugs having a height of 19.5mm are forbidden.
(C) MUDGUARDS - Motorcycles must be fitted with two mudguards
giving protection to the driver. the rear mudguard must cover
35 degrees of the upper rear wheel.
(d) CLUTCH AND BRAKE LEVERS - Clutch and brake levers must
be ball ended, the diameter of the ball height not less than
19mm(314') and either an integral part of the lever or a permanent
fixture.
(e) FOOTRESTS AND HANDLEBARS - As per Quad Standing Regulations.
(f) THROTTLE - All machines must be fitted with self-closing
throttles.
(g) EXHAUST PIPES - As per Quad Standing Regulations.
(h) RUNNING OF ENGINES As per Quad Standing Regulations.
(i) FUEL - Unleaded petrol only.
(j) All machines used in Moto Cross will be fitted with an
engine cut-out button.
(k) CHAINGUARDS - The manufacturers original guards or parts
of similar design must remain in place on the motorcycle.

NUMBER PLATES. Three number plates must be carried. One at
the front of the machine and two side plates. These must be
clearly visible.
7).
CONTROL OF EXHAUST SOUND LEVEL. As per Quad Standing Regulations.
8).
SCRUTINEERING. All motorcycles and protective clothing must
be presented to the scrutineer for examination before the
start of any practice or at any time during the meeting as
may be required by the Clerk of the Course, to ensure that
they are in a safe and sound condition and comply with the
requirements of the regulations. Any machine damaged in an
incident shall be presented to the scrutineer for re-inspection
before ridden again at the meeting.
9).
HELMETS. As per Quad Standing Regulations.
10).
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. In all races and official practice, complete
protective clothing made of leather or an approved substitute,
substantially padded at the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees,
knee length boots and gloves shall be worn by each rider.
Moto Cross jerseys must provide protection against abrasion
to the body and arms. Goggles or visor of a non-splinterable
type must be worn at the commencement of each race. Spectacles,
if worn, must be non-splinterable. All riders must wear a
body belt/kidney protector and protective armour giving protection
to at least the chest and Shoulders.
11).
METHOD OF STARTING. The method of starting shall be stated
in the Supplementary Regulations.
12).
STARTERS ORDERS. A rider is deemed to be under starters orders
having been called to the start line. Any rider failing to
be ready to start within two minutes of the first rider reaching
the line or who causes a start to be unnecessarily delayed
in the opinion of the starter and/or Clerk of the Course,
will be excluded. No persons will be allowed in the start
area once riders have come under orders at the start line,
except authorised officials.
13).
FLAG SIGNALS. The following flag signals will be used:
RED: All riders must stop.
BLACK WITH RIDERS NUMBER: That rider to stop immediately.
YELLOW MOTIONLESS: Danger, take care. Drive slowly.
YELLOW WAVED: Great danger, prepare to stop, no overtaking.
GREEN: Course clear.
YELLOW WITH BLACK CROSS: Last lap.
CHEQUERED: Finish. Any rider who is judged to have taken an
unfair advantage whilst a yellow flag is displayed, or ignored
any other flag signal, will be excluded.
14).
FINISH OF RACE. The cheque red flag will be displayed as the
winner crosses the finishing line and will be kept flying
thereafter until the last rider finishes the lap. No rider
will be allowed to start a fresh lap after the chequered flag
has been displayed.
15).
STOPPING A RACE. If the race is stopped before 50% of the
race has been completed, it may be re-run at the discretion
of the Clerk of the Course. if a race is stopped after 50%
of the race time has elapsed the result will declared on the
last completed lap. In the event of a race being re-run the
Clerk of the Course may exclude any driver(s) who is (are)
the prime course of the race initially being stopped.
16).
OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE. If during a race a rider receives outside
assistance other than that provided by the
Organisers for the removal of themself or their machine from
the course in the interest of safety, they will be excluded.
17).
FOUL, UNFAIR OR DANGEROUS RIDING -The Clerk of the Course
may exclude any rider who, in their opinion is guilty of unfair,
foul or dangerous riding.
18).
COURSE CONDUCT. If, for any reason, a rider leaves the course,
they must rejoin it as closely as possible at the point where
they left the course without any outside assistance. They
must not gain any advantage. If any advantage is obtained
they may be excluded from the results.
19).
ABANDONMENT. The organisers reserve the right, subject to
approval of the stewards of the meeting to cancel, postpone
or abandon any event or the competition itself if circumstances
should arise which in their opinion render such action necessary.
20).
INSTRUCTIONS TO RIDERS. Any instruction to riders subsequently
issued shall have the same force as the Standing Regulations
and the Supplementary Regulations.
21).
INTERPRETATION. The interpretation of these Standing Regulations
and the Supplementary Regulations and instructions to drivers
will rest entirely with the stewards of the meeting whose
decision shall be final and binding.
22).
DISCLAIMER. It is a condition of acceptance of entry that
the promoter shall not be responsible for any damage to a
motorcycle or its accessories whether by fire, accident or
other causes, nor for the theft of the motorcycle or its accessories
during the meeting.
23).
FIRE EXTINGUISHERS. All competitors must have a 2kg dry powder
fire extinguisher available for immediate use.
24)
.COMPLIANCE WITH REGULATIONS. Every rider by entering or being
entered thereby acknowledges that they are bound by these
Standing Regulations together with any Supplementary Regulations
or Final Instructions to be hereafter issued, to all of which
they undertake to submit and, more over, renounces any right
to have recourse to any arbitration or tribunal not provided
in the said Rules and Regulations.
