Additional Motocross Regulations

At all Motocross events including official practice qualified First Aid personnel must be in attendance with full First Aid equipment, including a stretcher. Arrangements should also be made for a medical officer to be in attendance during racing and official practising and two ambulances available.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.

1). All areas to which the public are permitted must be protected by one of the following methods or by a combination of these methods.

2). METHOD (A). A wrecking fence shall be erected outside the limits of the actual course. The wrecking fence shall consist of wooden posts of a minimum diameter of 7cm, firmly driven into the ground, and approximately 5m apart. Between these posts and approximately 60cm to 76cm from the ground, either sisal, nylon, polythene or polypropylene roping may be used.
Outside the wrecking fence there shall be a continuous strip of land of a approximate width of 9m which shall be prohibit ted to the public. Prohibited notices shall be displayed at intervals, facing the public. Outside this prohibited area there shall be erected a fence consisting of wooden post driven in approximately 5m apart, between which shall be fixed a rope at a height of not less than 90cm and no more than 1.2m from the ground. Either sisal, nylon, polythene or polypropylene roping complying with the above minimum requirements must be used for this fencing.

METHOD (B). The precautions shall be as laid down for Method A except the width between the wrecking fence and the spectator fence may be reduced to approximately 6m providing that a second wrecking fence is erected approximately midway between these two fences and is similarly constructed.

METHOD (C). A fence of chestnut paling of a height not less than 1.2m and mounted on posts of a minimum diameter of 7cm, firmly driven into the ground. The supporting posts must not be more than 3m apart and the pointed ends of the paling are to be at ground level and the fencing securely fixed to the posts. Chestnut paling should be of the type providing the fixing of the paling by three stands of wire and the space between palings should not exceed llcm.

3). OTHER METHODS OF PROTECTION. A combination of the above methods may be adopted. Where the natural terrain provides adequate protection to the public the above requirements may be modified. Areas of the course which are prohibited to the public shall be clearly displayed by "Prohibited Area" notices. These must be in sufficient quantity to ensure there being clearly visible to spectators.

4). PADDOCK. Riding of machines in the paddock is strictly prohibited. Machines should be pushed with engines dead. Riding of quad machines at slow pace can be permitted at a speed not exceeding 5mph. Failure to comply will result in immediate exclusion from the event.
