Following on from last seasons interview
with GP contender Josh Coppins, the HMX website has been lucky
enough to catch a few words with one of this countrys best
Motocross talents, Max Anstie.
The fourteen year old from Newbury, Berkshire has recently
signed to do his racing out in the states for the factory
KTM squad.
Max's career highlights include twice lifting the 'Prince
of Bercy' title in 2006 and 2007 and the Dutch title in 2007.
Interview:
1, Hows life in America riding for
KTM?
Everyone at KTM has been awesome, the bikes are working great
and everything seems to be settling in well. as for America,
the weather is alot better than back home. I have been riding
a little on the big bikes just for fun, and have also been
doing alot of supercross training. Tommy Searle came over
for a few weeks to do some training, it was nice to ride with
him at some of the local tracks.
2, What Championships will you be contesting this season?
This year I am racing all the amateur nationals here in the
USA. I will also race the Junior FIM World round in Holland
Heerda.
3, Do you get to train with some of the Pro's at KTM?
haha, yeah. down at the KTM SX test track you often see alot
of the pros such as Nick Way, Billy Laninovitch, Justin Braton...etc..
I have been riding with Tommy quite a bit over the last few
weeks.
4, Have you met Stefan Everts yet?
NO!! hopefully soon.
5, When is it planned for you to move up into the Pro ranks
and will it be in the AMA or in the World GP's?
well my contract, is for 5 years, 3 years amateur, 2 years
pro. that's AMA.
6, What advice would you have for any young riders starting
out in Motocross?
Go to the Mervyn Anstie motocross academy!!! it is still running
even with us in the USA. just down the road from you in Quarley.
