After my off at Swanmore can i pass on my thanks to the First Aiders on site who supported me while i was on another planet and in a lot of pain. The Club officials who where, as always, simply the best and stopped the race so i could be attended to. And a big "Sorry" to who ever was leading my race when it was stopped and all the other races who had to wait in the cold while they uncurled me and got me on the body board. If anyone can remember how i ended up on the floor please let me know as i have no idea how i ended up there...

I hope to see you all soon and hope everyone has a great and safe season

Hi would just like to say yes another great days racing. However being a quad riding we felt a bit used and abused with Jamie's decision to run us quads as field levellers, with the thought of running practice, heats and 1st race back to back, but once we had flattened the rough and icy ground it all went well. I hope eddie is ok after Unfortunately having an off on the jump, and hope this isn't the excuse his wife wants to stop him racing (ha ha). Yes it did make a change for us quads to have an early day as we always seem to be the last race. lets hope Swanmore brings another great days racing.

The race at Foxholes on Sunday was the first time i had ridden for ages and was looking really forward to it . Unfortuanatly i was one of the riders that fell foul of the foxholes curse later in day and that was the ruts at the bottom of the drop offs..This has led to me ending up with a shattered wrist joint ,amongst other injuries and thus putting me out for a while again!.... but I am looking forward to coming along to the meetings to watch and support untill able to ride.

I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the marshalls and emergency crews who assited me after the accident , they were brilliant as always . Must say that Jamie is 100% right when he runs these meetings on a Safety First basis and this shows with the great crews he gets in to cover these race meetings.....Thanks Jamie

Hopefully an accident free weekend is on the cards for West Meon....RIDE SAFE BOYS....See you there

Best wishes to all and have a Happy Xmas and a safe and Happy New Year , see you all at the awards do in January . Valerie

Well done to Jamie( maybe Rob Turner!!) for another wise decision on the cancellation of the Swanmore event, I live 5 miles from Swanmore and it has not stopped raining all day and would have been a mudbath. Although the cancellation meant that I have won this years vets championship, it was not the way I wanted to win it as Paul moyes still had a very good chance of winning it if I had had a poor finish, and I had wanted to cross the line as champion rather than win it because of the weather!! Also well done to Jamie, Spike and the team for another successful year of HMX, and well done to Geoff and his merry band of marshals of have got the marshalling system sorted, I don’t remember one tannoy call being made for marshals during the year!! Thank god my brother didn’t ride this year as he may well have won it or worse still, put me in Winchester hospital again with concussion!! Well done to Roy and Jo poynter for the best MX website about, just wish more people would use the message board. See you all next year, Lee Webber.

As I was still not able to ride it was great to turn up and see all the old faces, and to see how the new venue was....GREAT! I think is the only way you can describe it.
Full Marks to Jamie and the crew for putting on a great event, and full marks to the bar staff, the beer was nice and cold!
As normal Stumpy done the Club proud with the Auction.
I have found a form that can be used to submit comments on how well the event was run to Winchester Council, I know a few people have already completed it, but it may be worth letting other now:

Thought the BB needed something new so can anyone enlighten us as to news on the LB event. Do we have a venue? Do we have a date? And more importantly, the later it gets telling everyone the more chance they have booked holiday or other race events, so therefore will the LB run as a championship event or just as an add on for fun. Also perhaps you could let us know what difficulties you are having finding a venue as there may be a website reader that knows of the perfect one to hold it.

Well done to Jamie and his hard working crew for the watering of the Swanmore track, has to be said that with no rain for 3 weeks, the meeting could have not run at all without the bowser and track preperation!! The track layout was better as well with the track being tightened up a bit which is needed with some tracks being too fast nowadays, this was probably why there was less use of the ambulances!! I have read on a mx forum elsewhere one HMX member moaning about how rough swanmore was, I've said it before and I`ll say it again, get a road bike pal!! Funniest thing I have seen for a long time was Rob Whiting`s brother(Steve?) over celebration/p**s-take after his qualifer win, the club needs characters like him.

Just a note regarding the issue of getting the circuit tape etc in at the end of the meetings.
Maybe it would be a good idea to have all groups assist with this before any trophies or results are given as i know that this must take a while compile if we all mucked in it would only take a few minutes.
An idea may be to rotate the order of each group at each meeting so say that the A group would have the last race of the day at one meeting,B group the last race the next meeting ,C group the next and so on so that the last group race of the day would be responsible for helping get it all in.
At the moment most of the riders get away as soon as their group race is finished so are not around to help....rotating the groups could be a fair way of getting more deserved help in clearing up at the end of the meeting.

Just a thought!

Terry, the results are normally posted on the website on Wednesday or Thursday following the event.
The reason they did not go on until a lot later following West Meon, was that Jamie Sanderson was away, and there were a few queries that needed clearing up.
As soon as this happened the points were updated.
There was a message posted on the home page that explained what was going on.
Hopefully there will not be such a delay in the future.

Just a quick one in response to an earlier e-mail regarding tracks.
Jamie has confirmed West Meon, Swanmore, Foxholes and Binstead for the 2007 season, and the club is currently in talks with a possible four other venues.
Popham is being looked out in the next few weeks to try and see if a race meeting there would be possible.
I won't reveal any of the other tracks at this stage until some thing more concrete is in place.
The club will do its best to try and ensure that there is a good mix of tracks for next season.

Just wanted to say what a fantastic championship the Hampshire Motocross Club has run this year. I think that Jamie, Spike and the team have done a great job so credit where it's due.
The new format is works really well, having the first block of the days in your relevant class, especially me being in with other old boys and having a nice leisurely ride before it all kicks off in the A Group. I even got to round of the year by running my own brother over at Swanmore! Shame I'm not riding next year but if the 2007 championship is half as good as 2006 then it'll be great.

Message posted: 27th November 2006, by MB
As many of you my application form for the 2007 season has now arrived, and I cant help but worry that 2007 is going to be 10 rounds and not 12 just like the last couple of seasons, with some tracks making three apperances. Does popham hold races, cant Gunner or tonymoto be an option, Foxhills.
Im not having ago at anyone I know how hard tracks are to find they have been for the 25 years ive been in the sport, but I find it hard to justify the money to ride the same old three tracks.

Message posted: 11th October 2006, by Ian Brown

I for one totally back Jamie's decision from Swanmore. After all it could have been any of us out there injured and in pain waiting an Ambulance. I didn't hear anyone moan or feel let down as we all know the score..

Quote......
"All I can say is that I'm very sorry for letting you down and spoiling what would have been a great days racing in wonderful weather.
On a plus note ' it's better to have tried and failed rather than no to have tried at all'.
Jamie.

Id say no one felt let down and are only glad that the riders who crashed are Ok..

Just a long shot - I wonder if you could put me in touch with someone who might be able to help me regarding some lost property at the Ken Hall Motocross on Aug Bank Holiday.

My daughter lost her digital camera there and I wonder if anyone found it and handed it in. It was some time ago i know and so there is probably little chance, but she had lots of precious photos on it and so we are trying our best to find it.

"With the loss of Fobdown and limited options for other tracks at the moment why don't we try running West Meon and Swanmore in reverse as this will be fairly easy to do and give all riders a completely new challenge? Two meetings clockwise and two meetings anti-clockwise gives us 4 tracks from the 2 venues to play with."

It's a shame about fobdown, but bullshit is bullshit perhaps we could do foxhills again seemed good last time sure to get good turn out, what about Farleigh castle just a thought Jamie

Message posted: 1st September 2006, by Terry Simmons
Shame to lose fobdown its a nice track, not many tracks like to run quads now which will make it hard to find new tracks.
Allington lane will maybe, but i doubt tonymoto will but worth a try, as just riding swanmore and West Meon is gonna suk maybe we could contact the tracks to see.
its gotta be worth a try

Message posted: 23rd August 2006, by John Monk
Yes losing Fobdown is a big loss especially after all the money that has been raised there with the busters events. Other tracks, allington lane fair oak,ken hall langrish, tony moto, there used to be a track at hinton (denmead hambledon way) .Also with the loss of matchams lots of other clubs will be trying to book the few remaining tracks

Message posted: 21st August 2006, by Anon
The loss of Fobdown is very sad, it looks grim for next year that could make 7 rounds next year......I know we are off to Foxholes next but they have two cancellations which hmxc could grab.
How far are members prepared to travel to race?

Message posted: 16th August 2006, by Lee Rodwell
Matchams shut, Fobdown shut. every one needs to start looking for more tracks to ride or over the next few years were gonna have knowhere to race!! West meon and Swanmore are good but we can only ride them so many times a year... Big effort from every to suggest and find new tracks!

Message posted: 9th August 2006, by Roland Hopkins
Jamie,
Can you explain to us why it takes so long to get our championship points standing up to date for the quads when it only a couple of days for the solo's and there is 3 times more solo's than quads, and we only have 2 championships running, main and lee car.

Well after all the so called "Belly aching" whats the track like now everyone happy????
whatever the outcome good to see the board getting some use after a very slow start.

How about this one cut of two wheels from the quads to stop them polishing the track and demolishing ruts and berms..........heee hee can't wait for this one

Message posted: 22nd June 2006, by Stuart Monger
As everyone seems to be asking about new tracks, how about matterley basin? Cant do the jumps, but it would be an experience. Don't want tonymoto, they put like a compost on the track now and when you clean your filter, it all gets stuck on the inside. I agree with the person who asked for Langrish, i've tried for the last 3 years to ride there at the Ken Hall but no joy. Thats the only time it seems to be used.

Message posted: 19th June 2006, by Ian Brown
I believe there wasn't an issue with the Triple, it just needed remodelling. There has never been any issues with the whoops, there fine. I agree that Motocross isn't supposed to be an easy sport (Although some people make it look very easy) but all parts of all tracks, at some time or another, become worn to the point of being dangerous. They maybe just needed some maintenance but that throws up the problem of volunteers who would lend a hand if required as these things don't get done by themselves. But in Jamie's defence (I don't think he needs my backing in anyway) he has listened to the bellyaching from amongst other me and attempted to change and this a lot of clubs would not do.

Message posted: 18th June 2006, by

cum on oldys! u cant just race round a flat field, if u cant handle it then do grass track. The only exciting part of fobdown is the whoops!!! so we gota keep them.

Message posted: 16th June 2006, by Ian Webber
The whoops should definitely stay. It was definitely the right thing to do removing the triple, my knees told me so, but the rest of the track is great.
I think we're quite lucky in the Southern Centre with the amount of tracks we have. I recently rode an Eastern Centre Championship Meeting in Essex and the track was no where near as good as any of the tracks we ride, and the meeting wasn't run any where near as well as Hampshire or UMX. Of course it would be nice to have other new tracks all the time but as Jamie says it's hard enough keeping the ones we have already. Keep up the good work Jamie. Oh one thing though, any chance of sorting me out with a few extra points in the Veterans Championship. Just enough to lift me above my brother at least!!

Message posted: 15th June 2006, by Jeff Evans
as i see it everybody rides the same tracks so everybody has got to ride the jumps and whoops some people may not like some parts other may feel this is their strongest part and vise a versa just enjoy it.

Message posted: 15th June 2006, by Roy Poynter
Well Said Lee!

Message posted: 15th June 2006, by Lee Webber

So people want the whoops and triple out, I am gonna get a fairing and slicks for the next round, this is motocross fellas, not super retard racing, jumps are motocross, whoops are motocross. And as for the chap who wants gunner, foxhills and tonymoto, mate you will get lynched by most club members(not me), these tracks have jumps and it sounds like most club riders don't want them, tonymoto has about four doubles and umpteen tabletops for starters. Tracks have to be technical, learn to ride them

Message posted: 14th June 2006, by Roland Hopkins
Jamie ignore the comment about the whoops it's one of the only good overtaking places keep them there.
What I would like say is about the amount of sand baggers we have in the club. Whats the point if you want trophies that badly win them in the class more suited to you it's more of a challenge and not only that you get more points in the championship.

Those that sand bag in the quads you know who you are.......... Give it a break

Message posted: 14th June 2006, by Jamie Sanderson
Looks like you boys have got a new job, signing up tracks, Winterbourne Gunner will be ok, ask the others if we could run there.

Having read the recent opinions of other concerned riders reference the triple thing at fobdown, I can say due to the collapse of my suspension it is a bike breaker!
Near the end of the races, when people are blowing out their arse, before long I can see a nasty accident happening! PLEASE table top it, my old bike and bones can't take anymore.
Oh yes why we're here"more tracks please?"

After riding at Fobdown for the last two years with school boys and now with Hampshire mx i am still concerned about the annoying triple like object dug in the ground which i and allot of other club members find very dangerous. Me and other club members have suggested that you change the triple to a more satisfactory and less dangerous jump e.g. table top, rhythm section, a safe double, not something that is able to rip apart your bike if you make a little mistake. Other than that i am very pleased with my season so far at hampshire.
thank you for your time,

Time to revamp the jumps (3 in a row) after the woods at Fobdown. A few people have suggested removing the first one and using the dirt to fill in between the next 2 to make a Tabletop. I know it does sort out the men from the boys but the faces and landings are becoming 'bike breakers' as well as 'bone breakers'

Anyone else have an opinion..???

I would just like to say as a new member to the club and having completed three races, how freindly and professional the club seems. I would also like to say I have seen a couple of times in the programme that help is needed at the end of the day to help dismantle the track, with more daylight on our side I will be helping in the future and not leaving it to the same old people as these things tend to go, even if I have got a hour and a half drive home.
A big thankyou to all commitee members who have put a lot of hardwork and time into the club, which can be taken for granted sometimes.
Thank you

Hi,
I think Jamie needs to take a close look at the groups, as there are a lot of riders in groups that they are too good for.
The only reason I can see for this, is too get a trophy.
The people that do this are only robbing themselves, as they should be in faster groups that they may take a season or so to win a trophy in.
